• The Seven Basic Movement Patterns

As we get older we tend to loose much of the mobility we had in our prime, which leads to all kinds of problems - and it's hard to get back! You'd be amazed how many older people living at home still, who if they have a fall, are unable to get up on their own. It doesn't need to be this way.

Two things to consider: Balance exercises to help prevent clumsy falls in the first place (stand on one leg etc.), and also keeping up all basic movements for strength & flexibility (see picture above). PS: getting up & down off the floor everyday (voluntarily) is a great form of exercise! TAKE ALL YOUR MAJOR JOINTS THROUGH A FULL RANGE OF MOTION EVERY DAY. Walking is not enough. Try and be creative how you do these exercises by incorporating them into daily life - eg. park at the furtherest New World carpark, and lift 2 shopping bags like gym weights etc... If we do these things, hopefully we'll be playing Twister at 80 with the great-grandchildren :)
